At 4961 Rice Lake Road, just north of
Martin Road, is a hidden retail gem: Up North Country Crafts. It is an
exciting store featuring over 60 local Minnesota and Wisconsin artists
and crafters. Owned and operated by Diane and Dean Anderson, their
mission was more than providing a retail outlet for local artists and
crafters. They also take pride in helping many those people become
successful independent small business owners by providing help with the
legal steps to starting a business and with sales and marketing. Up
North Country shows the results of the efforts of all these people with
a large variety of high quality handmade items.
We have a package of six items that
reflects the range and quality found in the store. Sue Demme has made a
stoneware lamp that will fit in any room in your house. To go with it,
there is a natural birch bark lampshade by Ed Jetland. And, to go with
the lamp and lampshade, Bonnie Peterson made a stoneware decorated
bowl. Additionally, we have a handmade woodland wreath made by Dawn
Koski of Kreations by Koski and a handmade breadbasket with matching
napkin made by Julie McCormick. Lastly, from Renae Mugge of Incredible
Glass, the is a baroque glass vase and matching 13 inch plate.
Combined, these items are valued at $260.
So, if you are thinking of gifts or of
treating yourself, and you want items that have the heart and soul of
the northland, bid on this package of items from Up North Country
Crafts, 4961 Rice Lake Road, and support your local artists and
crafters.
