Don Lilyquist

There is a song in the Kiwanis
songbook that starts out …

When Kiwanis calls,
When Kiwanis calls,
Let every one stand up.

And stand up we do. Soon our President Elect Denny Nelson will be organizing his committees, and committee Chairs for the next Kiwanis Year, and when he calls, I hope that you will stand up and say yes .It is our membership that makes this, the great club that it has been for 90 years.

And the next line …

When Kiwanis calls,
When Kiwanis calls,
Let each one raise their cup.

This year w raised our cup high and distributed over $26000. To about 30 sponsored youth organizations. This years Auction was a great success, and will provide us with even more money for next years requests. When we raise our cup we do make a difference.

To the youth in our area. And the song goes on …

As we gather ’round the table,
As long as we are able,

And we do every week to enjoy a good meal, great fellowship, interesting, informative, and just plain good programs. And the opportunity to share our experiences with Happy Dollars and News Items.
Have you considered sharing Kiwanis with a friend? It was a friend that shared Kiwanis with you.

And the last line …

We’ll pledge to thee our loyalty,
When Kiwanis calls.

And we do have loyalty in our club 17 of our current membership has served as an officer of our club, and another 30 members have served as members of the Board of Directors and one as a Lt. Governor.

That’s a good song. We should sing it sometime!

Don

School's Out Picnic!

I had a wonderful time dishing out hot dogs with Ben, Carol, Jane and all the rest of the hard working group of Kiwanians. My grandchildren were there, no not all 15 but 3 and their mother Beth was interviewed on television. She had a great time soaking in the sun and sharing fun with friends and family. After I left to see a client he kept sniffing me. Do you think the hot dog aroma was overwhelming? I think so as I sold him a house!! Yea! Think I will do this next year and hope more folks will join in the fun. A special thank you to the guys cooking the dogs over heat on a hot swealtering day. Bless them for their energy and goodness.

Best Regards, Jan Lenz

All items that did not go from this years auction
will be auctioned off on Wednesday July 25th
Please plan on attending and bring your wallet!

What is a Kiwanian?

Kiwanis Name
The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents.” It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis

Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen!

As Kiwanis clubs and members, we see it everyday!

Membership

  • About 8,000 clubs in 96 countries
  • More than 260,000 adult members
  •  Approximately 320,000 youth

 Mission

To serve children of the world.

Service

Each year, clubs:

  • Sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects.
  • Raise more than $107 million.

Members and clubs have:

  • Contributed more than $80 million toward the global elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), the leading preventable cause of mental retardation.

Global Results

Members and clubs have contributed more than $80 million toward the global elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), the leading preventable cause of mental retardation.
