Hey
Kiwanis friends! I just did a fun and exciting little exercise and want to encourage
you to do it too. First, read this passage from Romans 1:1 "Paul, a
servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God".
Now, fill in your name where Paul's name is and read the sentence again.
_________, a servant of Jesus Christ.... set apart for the gospel of God"
Whoa! What a thought! Did you know that YOU and I have been set apart for the gospel
of God. You have a reason for living. You have an eternal, holy purpose for
life. You were selected for God's purposes. You are created to be an
ambassador for Christ to your world.
At times this excites me so much I can't handle it. At times it frightens me.
Sometimes I feel ill-equipped for the task. I wonder, why did God intend for me to
bring this all-important message of His reconciliation to a dying world? Why
me? I'm not exceptionally spiritual or knowledgeable or gifted. I'm pretty
average. Did God think this plan through? Yes, He did.
God is perfect. He is wise. His plan is flawless. That plan includes
using very flawed people to carry it out. So the good news is you and I are
qualified! Now the question remains - "Are we willing?" Am I ready
to do my part in God's plan? I like the saying 'God is not looking to 'call the
equipped' rather He seems to 'equip the called (you and I).'
Lord God, this thought brings many emotions. Help me to sort through the feelings
and discover your truth. I thank you that you have called me to be a part of your
plan. Whether through Kiwanis, or in other parts of our lives. You will equip
me for everything you've prepared for me to do. Help me to realize how short this
life is compared to eternity. Give me the courage to be willing to say 'Yes' to your
plans for my life.
