I had someone say to me one time, Darren, why are you so
damn happy? I was taken back and didnt know what to say. So I just
chuckled and said, Am I? I dont really think of myself as being
any happier than most but I suppose like many things, happiness too is a matter of
perspective. /x-tad-smaller>

I've heard of medical studies showing that people recover quicker when they have a
positive attitude. I'm sure it's not the only factor in healing, but I've seen
first-hand the power of good thoughts. This verse is interesting in light of that.
Proverbs 17:22 - A merry heart is good medicine but a broken spirit dries the
bones./x-tad-smaller>

My friend Mark Paavola, at the YFC Encounter ministry wrote these thoughts to
me in an email and it got me thinking about having a merry heart. As I was reading
his email I realized that it is my choice to have a merry heart, or not have one. My
circumstances do not make those decisions for me. Whether or not things are 'going
my way,' I can choose to be happy. Nothing or no one can stop my heart from singing./x-tad-smaller>

Then, when I have a merry heart, it is like medicine. It is healing to me and to
those around me! I spread cheer wherever I go. It not only is therapy to my
soul, but my happiness is contagious! This is unique medicine that tastes good and
that we can share with others!/x-tad-smaller>

Lord, help me to choose happiness today. May I be known as someone with a merry
heart. I know how refreshing that is. I pray that I can bring healing and theraputic
relief to those in need. May your love and joy fill me to overflowing today!/x-tad-smaller>
